Easy Methods For Doing Self-Hypnosis

The Holidays are here and sometimes we really need some “me” time to recharge our draining batteries.

One of the best ways I have found to give my spirits a boost during the hectic holiday season or anytime of the year for that matter is a little self hypnosis.

Let me explain…

As defined, self-hypnosis—also called “auto hypnosis”—refers to a form of hypnosis where self-induction is used. Here, the person who practices self hypnosis uses “autosuggestion” or self-suggestion to be able to adjust or overcome certain conditions or situations. In most cases, self-hypnosis is used as a therapeutic supplement along with hypnotherapy.

Before getting into self hypnosis the best way to go is to research about it thoroughly first. Through research, you can get extensive information about the practice and you will have a better understanding how it would benefit you the most. You can do your research by getting online and surf websites that offer information aligned with the practice. Because of the easy access to information today, you can get almost anything you need to know about it in an instant. In fact, with so many pieces of information about it, you might be overwhelmed. It would be better to be specific on the topics that you really would want to know about so you won’t be wasting your time searching for seemingly list of sites.

Aside from the Internet, you can also get information on various books as well as different magazines. Here, you can find interesting articles that can give you a better understanding of the practice especially on the methods that can be used according to the level of skills of the person.

If you are planning to conduct self hypnosis at home, feel free to ask people who have been practicing it for the basic methods that you can use. If you personally know people who are doing self hypnosis, it’s good to get some first hand information from them. If you are still unsure, contact your local hypnotist or hypnotherapist and discuss with him or her on how to get started. Once enough information has been gathered, you can now start with self hypnosis.

Experts in this field say that for self hypnosis to be successful, one should rely on the basic methods and learn them well. A considerable amount of knowledge on the basic methods will somehow help him or her be more familiar with the process and eventually be able to do it easier.

Today, most of the self hypnosis methods and techniques that are used may include induction procedures, methods for communicating with the subconscious part of the person’s mind and suggestion formulation and application. Here is one of the most commonly used methods for self hypnosis:

1. Self Hypnosis induction script. This refers to the induction talk for people who will be practicing self-hypnosis. For many people, they can used this as a guide to thinking their way down, getting to a relaxed state of mind, then bringing themselves back up. You can record this yourself and listen to your own voice, or purchase any of the many hypnotic recordings available. One that I recommend is Mind Vacation Meditation

So if you are needing a little “down time” or “Me Time” , find a nice quiet place where you won’t be disturbed for 15-20 minutes, get comfortable and practice a little self hypnosis.

I think you’ll find that you can can easily recharge your batteries by trying self-hypnosis.

What Are The Side Effects Of Stress Relief Drugs?

Let’s face it, we live in a society that when many people get sick, the first thing that comes to mind is taking a couple of pills with water then everything will be alright.

Though this works in some cases, people who experience stress due to anxiety have to be careful since these medication may have certain side effects.

One example is when the person uses the drug Paxil to treat a anxiety stress disorder. According to a test done in different parts of the world, people who have depressive disorder will often experience side effects such as sweating, nausea, insomnia, tremor, ejaculatory disturbance and other genital disorders after taking this drug.

People who have obsessive compulsive behavior, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety and post traumatic stress will also experience side effects but only to a certain degree.

Xanax also has certain side effects. These include allergies, blurred vision, diarrhea, hyperventilation, difficulty in sleeping, painful menstruation, sexual dysfunction and weight gain or loss.

These will most likely happen when the person increases the dosage which is far more than that given by the doctor or when one doesn’t need the medicine anymore. Some doctors say these are the withdrawal symptoms the individual may experience when these no longer need to be prescribed to the patient.

Another more popular drug used to treat anxiety disorder is Buspar. Some patients have reported to experience the same side effects as those of Xanax. These also include constipation, numbness, speech difficulty, rapid heart rate, twitching, nervousness and muscle cramps.

The drugs available in the market should only be used on a short term basis. Since a lot of patients have shown to have experienced certain side effects, doctors recommend that the patient comes in first for a proper examination before being prescribed these medications.

Given the side effects of these drugs, some doctors recommend the use of natural or alternative forms of treatment. These include the use of herbs which can be inhaled or ingested which has shown to produce the same or better results without the side effects.

Two of these herbs are Kava and Valerian. The person will be able to get relief and feel relaxed similar to those when taking Valium or Xanax. This can also be mixed with other ingredients if the person doesn’t like the smell or the taste when this is being ingested.

People who don’t like natural herbs can try exercising instead. The person can either sweat this off in a gym or produce the same effects by doing some breathing exercises. The individual can go to the gym and do this or buy an instructional video which can be done at home.

Those who are too tired to drive to the facility or buy one off the shelf  can also relieve stress by getting a massage. The person can go to the gym and the beauty palor which have professionals and excellent facilities to treat people who suffer from anxiety stress.

The various treatments to treat anxiety stress should be able to relieve without any other pain in return. The best the doctor can do is change the prescription when this happens or try something new. The health professional should explain the pros and cons of each to the patient so the right one can be chosen.

Did You Know This About Nicotine?

Did you know that nicotine is considered a poison and nicotine poisoning results from too much nicotine? Acute nicotine poisoning usually occurs in young children who accidentally chew on nicotine gum or patches.

If you or anyone you know has an over exposure to nicotine, you should call your local emergency number (such as 911) or a local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.

But here’s some good news.

Within four days usually, nicotine is gone from your body.

And since nicotine is NOT physically addictive, you are almost home on becoming a non-smoker.
Once you have made this decision to quit, a hypnotist can help you change the way your brain is wired towards cigarettes.

Because why would you want to put that kind of poison into your system any longer when you know in the past you have succeed with tasks you have begun, so by knowing that, once you decide to become a non-smoker, you already know that you can succeed.

Here’s to your success in your quest to becoming a non-smoker.

Discover How To Awaken The Inner You Through Self-Hypnosis

The world we live in today has many people trying to multitask because of a lot of preoccupation. The internet and all of the electronic devices we carry around has made living faster yet complicated, it made interactions wider yet shorter, and it made communication easier yet brief. Despite so many distractions, there are also those who would like to get back to their original self and connect with it in the most basic possible means. One of ways to do this is through self-hypnosis.

Self-hypnosis is defined as a “process involving a hypnotist and a subject who agrees to be hypnotized,” self-hypnosis is characterized by intense concentration, extreme relaxation, and high suggestibility to both parties.

Experts say that self-hypnosis is very versatile. In fact, its versatility can be quite unparalleled. Nowadays the sessions between the hypnotist and the subject can take place in common places such as clinics, showrooms, classrooms, and even to open spaces and establishments.

Some hypnotists may use self-hypnosis in order to recover suppressed memories of people who have had bad experiences and help them to overcome the problems that they are dealing with right now. Still other psychologists and hypnotherapists use hypnosis to discover hidden truths from a person’s ordinary consciousness. This is done by tapping into the unconscious state or mind where information are believed to dwell, but only if the client has given his or her prior approval.

Today, self-hypnosis is not only used for treating various behavioral problems but also for self-enhancement and improvement. If you would like to get into hypnosis or self-hypnosis, there are a few things you need to consider. Self-hypnosis is one of the excellent ways of taking control over one’s life.  In fact, it can be used as means of disciplining yourself if you want to achieve a specific goal. For some people, self-hypnosis is advisable if you want to achieve something and utmost dedication and discipline is needed. Hypnosis introduction can benefit those who would want to lose or gain weight, stop smoking, stress relief, those who want to boost their self-confidence, and those who would want to overcome their fears or phobias.

If you are planning to get a course on self-hypnosis, you can expect that it can teach you to:
reach your subconscious mind through bypassing your conscious mind, how to communicate with your subconscious mind, methods of creating your own hypnosis scripts and visualizations, how to design and use affirmations, the effects and use of symbols on the subconscious mind, how to understand which methods will be most effective for you personally, deepening your trance state and using visualizations, adapting to scripts to suit various problems, how to change your personal history and plan a more effective future and how to understand your dreams as well.

In the short term and long term, learning self-hypnosis can be very valuable to help you achieve whatever it is you so desire.

An Easy Guide To Managing Stress

Anxiety is a condition that is neither welcome nor enjoyable. This condition can effectively reduce a person’s productivity and ability to cope with various situations. Add to that the fact that periods of anxiety are uncomfortable and bring with it a host of nervous illnesses – palpitations, cold flushes, clammy hands, and a boiling sense of dread in the pit of the stomach among others.

While it has been the subject of many studies and researches, scientists are agreed that anxiety is still not fully understood even today. However, as a result of their researches, they have been able to help people effectively manage and avoid anxiety.

1. Avoid Stress – Stress is the greatest predisposing factor to anxiety attacks. If one is to avoid any anxiety-related illness, that person should reduce the amount of stressors experienced per day.

While not completely avoidable, one can at least create an environment where stress plays a lesser role on they body. Make sure you put the stressors that can be avoided away from your immediate vicinity. You could try lounging in an area that is peaceful and quiet.

You will be surprised at what a good five minutes of relaxation can do for a stressed-out body. You could also come up with good coping mechanisms for stress related issues. You could listen to soothing music, meditate, and do other relaxing activities.

2. Avoid Drinking and Other Substances – Studies have shown that various substances can predispose one to bouts of anxiety. These substances play around with the normal balance of chemicals in the brain, effectively increasing the chance one acquires anxiety illness.

While some people drink or take drugs to soothe their nerves it actually has a counter-effect that will discourage those that do so. Drugs for example can increase the release of a chemical called dopamine in the brain.

Dopamine is a chemical that is associated with pleasure in the body. While activities such as sex and eating good food increase dopamine release anywhere from two to three times, drugs haywire the brain and cause an increase in dopamine anywhere from four to ten times.

While this may seem like a good thing for some people, this sudden and unwarranted increase in dopamine can actually cause havoc to the chemical balance of the brain. And while it makes those that take them giddy for some time, when a person’s high wears off, the sudden loss of dopamine will induce a great amount of depression, stress, and anxiety.

3. Sleep Right – People need the right amount of sleep to retain a calm, restive demeanor. If you have noticed, you are usually a lot crankier and anxious the day after you pull an all-nighter. This is because sleep is a necessity for good health – physically, emotionally, and psychologically.

Not only is the amount of sleep important, but the regular schedule for it as well. If possible keep your sleep patterns regular, as an irregular pattern can cause an undue amount of stress and anxiety.

4. Eat Right – The body needs certain nutrients to keep itself healthy. Not only does it need these nutrients for energy and building processes, it also needs certain nutrients to keep the chemical balance in the body at normal rates.

This makes the intake of healthy food important. The intake of the right kind of food is integral to the health and well-being of any person. Anxiety is, as studies have shown, directly related to diet.

Avoid taking food substances that can alter your body chemistry in the wrong way. Coffee and alcohol are some of the food stuffs that can play with one’s chemical balance and cause anxiety as well.

Common Self-Hypnosis Q & A

Today I am going to go over a couple questions about self-hypnosis that are asked on a somewhat regular basis.

“Is it true that you can find out more about yourself when you do self-hypnosis?”

Yes. Because you will be dealing with the subconscious, you may discover some facts about yourself that you may not know before. This is not some mystical fact or some unconscious secret. For the most part, you will become enlightened on the things that yo sometimes hide from yourself. You will even realize hidden motivations and repressed feelings that in some ways can help you become a better person.

“Is it safe?”

When in the hands of professional hypnotists, it is. The problem is with most reports is the fact that they blame the procedure when it is the individual’s fault. News of hypnosis sessions going awry is not the fault of hypnosis as a science but amateur and fake hypnotists. That is why it is important to research the background of hypnotists first before a person even makes an appointment. Remember that this person will have control of your mind for a moment or two. If that is not reason enough to really make sure they’re legitimate, I don’t know what is.

“Can self-hypnosis make a person highly suggestible and easily influenced in real life?”

Yes to the first question and no to the next. Regular practice of self-hypnosis can improve a person’s response to hypnosis. Sessions will be easier and faster and they will be able to make the most out of their self-hypnosis procedures. You will however be only highly suggestible during your own self-hypnosis sessions. This is because your brain has gotten used to it but if you hypnotize yourself for a completely different thing, it will be back to square one. This is also not something that will spill over your daily grind. People will not become easily influenced just because they practice self-hypnosis. Besides the better that you understand how “suggestions” work, the more you will be know how to resist other people’s subtle attempts at manipulating you.

“What are things that you can use self-hypnosis with?”

Some of the most common things that people use self-hypnosis for is changing an existing mindset and personality. A person for instance who easily angers can learn to be patient through self-hypnosis. The same goes with a person who cannot stop talking or gossiping. Students have also used self-hypnosis to improve their grades and enhance learning. Hypnosis is after all can improve one’s memory and level of concentration. There are some who have claimed that it also works wonders with relieving pain in the body. Hypnosis can make a person forget about the pain or not feel the pain at all. Although only a few cases of addiction have been associated with self-hypnosis, it has been linked to smoking cessation. Reports however on its effectiveness are still mixed and there is still a need for new data.

“Can it improve sports performance? If yes, can it strengthen a person?”

Some people have also claimed to using self-hypnosis to improve their performance in sports. This however does not make a person stronger. It cannot affect or change a person’s physical make-up. However the change in the performance may be brought on by an improved level of concentration as well as a more fearless attitude. Fear can sometimes make us hesitate even when we are already doing what comes naturally to us.

What About Hypnosis For Your Insomnia

Beta brainwaves! Alpha brainwaves! Are you like chicken little, running around and wondering what the fuss is all about with them?

In a nutshell, sufferers of insomnia have problems getting their Beta brainwaves into an Alpha state; the state where your mind can relax so you can actually fall asleep. So when the conscious mind is experiencing anger, conflict, fears, emotional upset, anxiety, and worry, the brain is working overtime time processing these different states. By doing so, this can take over their minds which can not wind down, therefore creating the inability to sleep. To make things even worse, these people begin to worry as soon as their day begins about being able to sleep later on that night. The more that they worry, the more difficult it becomes for them to sleep, until it is almost becomes an obsession.

Did you realize that worrying about insomnia can actually create insomnia?

This behavior can be changed but you may need a little help. here’s why; your brain has to be taught how to allow itself to slip into an Alpha brain state and how to eliminate the triggers that stop it from allowing you to go into a deep sleep.

Hypnosis is a very effective way for people to learn this retrained way of thought. Hypnosis changes the way that the subconscious mind works, so it’s a completely safe and effective option for those who do not wish to take sleeping pills.

Hypnosis audio tracks have been created; ( to help people who suffer from insomnia to listen to while they are trying to fall asleep and stay asleep. These tracks tap into their inner subconscious mind and has a way of quieting the mind so that sound sleep can once again be restored.

Hypnosis usually begins with breathing techniques that are specifically designed to ensure that you are breathing correctly, then moves on to releasing the tension that your body is storing, hence making sleep impossible, and then suggestively taps into your subconscious while sort of pushing your conscious mind off to the side for a bit. Here is where it lays the foundation for future thinking and erasing whatever is causing you to associate negative thoughts with sleep.

Hypnosis works great in conjunction with learned relaxation. First you learn to relax your mind and then you learn how to relax your body.

Some folks choose to visit their local hypnotist or hypnotherapist, while others have had wonderful success downloading and listening to The Sleep Secret Audio.

Whatever path you chose, realize that hypnosis is a safe and effective way to remove insomnia and other sleep loss issues from your life.

Virtual Book Tour For Kate

Welcome to day #4 of my Virtual Book Tour for Prayer Prescriptions: Spiritual Remedies For Long Lasting Health.

What is a Virtual Book Tour, you may be asking? As an author of my upcoming book, I’ve looked into ways I can promote the book without breaking the bank. In fact, a Virtual Book Tour doesn’t cost anything. It’s a way to reach out to fellow bloggers, post on their blogs about my book, and drive traffic to their site all day.

It’s a win/win.

Publishing houses no longer do publicity for the books they are publishing, except for New World Library, perhaps. Since Prayer Prescriptions: Spiritual Remedies For Long Lasting Health will be published at the end of May, this will be a long Virtual Book Tour, giving me plenty of time to learn along the way.

Isn’t that what life is all about? Learning and growing as we seek Peace Of Mind in our lives.

I’d like you to stop by my author blog. There’s a lot going on there and we’ll have an opportunity to connect there. Please be sure to introduce yourself!
